Demand #5: "Love Me"

Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. - Matthew 10:37

Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I proceeded and came forthe from God." - John 8:42

Love Jesus, Love him! Ok, I'm a "guy" and have been told that I don't really know what it means to really love someone. Or, at least, the way I, a guy, loves is not the same as a woman.

Where am I going with this....I want to love more; Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind - and then love your neighbor as yourself.

Jesus demands that I love him. Ok. I get that. But I don't always get "how."

To love Jesus means I love others more also..right? Or that I should? Does the love I show for others show my love for Jesus?

Now that can be an eye opener!

Ok...now, after rambling through this I think about how much deeper I love Cathy than I did 22 years ago because we've grown together. Why is that? Well, we've been through a LOT together. And we stuck it out..search it out, embraced some of the struggles better than others, but marriage doesn't really allow one to "float" through and not dig deep.

Christ's demand to love him should draw me to grow more towards him; to learn more about him; to go to him in times of struggle; to keep his grace in mind when I'm cynical; to reach out to him; to celebrate with him.

I was asked yesterday why Jesus came into the world. Jesus came to proclaim the truth. Jesus came so we could have life and have it more abundantly!

Jesus came so we could LOVE him.

Practice Christianity. Practice what Jesus demands. Dig deep. Don't float. Search the matter out.

And Love HIM.

He demands it.
